After the incredibly successful internal football tournaments held at school over the last eight years, it has been decided to run a similar competition this year to coincide with the World Cup in Germany.   There will be eight groups of four teams, each containing at least one child from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, mixing boys and girls together.  All players must wear shin pads.

Due to the amount of teams, there will be two qualifying evenings.  The group matches will take place on Friday 16 June and Wednesday 21 June, between 4pm and 6pm, on the school field.  The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will take place at Gala Day, Saturday 24 June, during the afternoon.  Trade Sales Centre is sponsoring the Gala Day football tournament.

If your child would like to take part in “TSC Balsall Common World Cup 2006”” then please complete the form below and return it to Mr. Ireland no later than Wednesday 14 June.  Places are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, so return the slips promptly to avoid disappointment.  Teams will be updated daily on the sports notice board, so the sooner you return your slip, the sooner you will know what team you are in!  Please make sure you are available for both qualifying days and Gala Day in case your team makes it through to the knockout stages.  If you are attending Music Dunfield please indicate this on the slip so you can be allocated a team playing in the Friday qualifier.

Children are encouraged to wear colours as near to the team they are representing as possible.  On both qualifying evenings there will be a prize for the pupil who has made a shirt that best represents their team.  Trade Sales Centre will be providing T-Shirts for the eight teams that reach the quarter-final stage.  The “TSC Balsall Common World Cup 2006” winners and runners-up will receive medals, provided by our resident football coach, Keith Green.
