After the incredibly successful internal football tournaments held at school over the last seven years, it has been decided to run a similar competition this year. The matches this summer will be based on major football clubs from around the world. There will be four groups of four teams, each containing at least one child from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, mixing boys and girls together. All players must wear shin pads.
The group matches will take place on Friday 17 June, between 4pm and 6pm, on the school field. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will take place at Gala Day, Saturday 25 June, during the afternoon. Trade Sales Centre are sponsoring Gala Day and the football tournament.

If your child would like to take part in “Balsall Common All Star World Football 2005” then please download the application form below and return it to Mr. Hilton’s red postbox outside the ICT Suite BEFORE Wednesday 15 June. Places are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, so return the slips promptly to avoid disappointment. Teams will be updated daily on the sports notice board, so the sooner you return your slip, the sooner you will know what team you are in! Please make sure you are available for both days in case your team makes it through to the knockout stages.
Children are encouraged to wear colours as near to the team they are representing as possible. There will be a prize for the pupil who has made a shirt that best represents their team. There will also be a Geography quiz based on the location of the teams in the tournament. The quiz sheet is available for download below. Trade Sales Centre will be providing T-Shirts for the eight teams that reach the quarter-final stage. The “Balsall Common All Star World Football 2005” winners and runners-up will receive medals, provided by our resident football coach, Keith Green.
