Age 5-7

Key Stage 1- reading in the courtyard

Key Stage 1 encompasses Years 1 and 2 but includes the second year of the Foundation Key Stage in many of the daily routines and activities. Within these years we aim to lay a firm foundation in the basic skills of number and language, but we also see the curriculum as being much broader than this, including all National Curriculum subjects and Religious Education.

Across all of these activities we encourage the children to develop personal and moral qualities such as confidence, independence, curiosity, courtesy, consideration and helpfulness towards others. We aim for learning to be an enjoyable experience.

Year 1 roleplay in Science

Throughout the year parents are made welcome in to school to celebrate their children's success or their birthdays in our Friday morning assembly. Other opportunities include concerts, special assemblies and sports day.
