NotesRecordersNotes

At Balsall Common Primary School, we feel that the recorder is an ideal instrument for developing the children's knowledge and understanding of music, enabling them to naturally progress on to brass, string and woodwind instruments in Year 5.

In Year 2 all children start to play the recorder as part of their music development. They are then able to become more advanced, allowing them to take up treble, tenor and bass recorders. This opens up the opportunity for them to become a member of wind ensembles, where they actively play in three part harmony.

At present there are five recorder groups which consist of the following levels:

Year 2 - beginners.

Hagrid's Heroes - Year 3

Quidditch Quavers - Year 4

Terrific Trebles - Years 4, 5 & 6.

Wind Wizards - wind ensemble
