salvete omnes!
I am running a Latin Club for Year 5 after school on Thursdays from 3.40 – 4.10pm.
Come and follow the adventures of Minimus and the family that lived at Vindolanda (which is near Hadrian’s Wall) at the beginning of the second century AD.
Each week you will:
- learn some of the language that the Romans spoke and brought to Britain – this will help with English spelling and meanings (more than 50% of English words come from Latin);
- discover what is meant to be invaded by the Romans, to serve in the Roman army, and to be the wife or child of someone serving in the army;
- maybe carry out some activities like making Roman jewellery, weapons and birthday cards;
- read some Roman and Greek myths – what cracking stories!
You will need to be able to come every week and do a little work at home in between each session – all fun activities to help you learn some vocabulary.
If you are interested in coming to Latin Club, please you write me a short note telling me why you want to come to Latin Club. It will be necessary to limit numbers to 20.
valete omnes!
