PIRATE DAY

On Friday 20th April we started our Treasure topic by having a Pirate Day in school. We had great fun!

When we came back from our lunch we found a map, we followed the map to find some treasure!

We searched high and low, we went went through a secret passage!

We used the map to see where the treasure might be!

We found a tasty pirate treat!

We really enjoyed eating our treasure!

FLOATING AND SINKING

We have been exploring floating and sinking. We tested out whether all the things that sank were heavy.

We made pirate boats. It was very important that the boats didn't sink so we had to think carefully about what would be best to use. We found out that things with holes in were no good and that cardboard soaked up the water!

CLOTHES

As an introduction to our unit of work on Clothes this half-term, Foundation 2  celebrated Mrs Shaw's birthday by having a fancy dress party!  Pupils came dressed in their chosen outfit. We made party hats, shakers and pizza ! The pizza was delicious !

At 3 o'clock we invitied parents to join us for a celebratory fashion show in the hall, where pupils (and teachers!)  showed off their costumes down the catwalk !

The children welcoming the parents to our fashion show !

Pirates of the Carribbean !                          Superheros !

Princesses !                           Miss Mitchell starts the balloon game !

We have learned about what clothes used to be like in the past. We looked at washing nowadays and a long time ago. It was much harder work!

We have found out about the different uniforms people wear for the jobs. They are very important to help them do their jobs properly.

Mrs Floyd came into school to talk to us about all the different parts of her uniform and how she needs them to help her be a good police officer.

Inspector Floyd wear protective gloves to keep her hands warm and safe!

She has a hard hat incase anything hits her head.

Her belt is like batmans! It has a place for a first aid kit, a torch, a baton and her badge.

Her jacket lets people know she can help them. Under her bright jacket she wears a fleece to keep her warm.

Inspector Floyd has a badge to prove she is a police officer. Her vest keeps her safe too

Inspector Floyd's tie pulls out if someone tries to pull it!

We dressed up like real police officers too! Police officers communicate using walkie talkies.
